06 November The best of the Vloggies 2006No matter what kind of work you do, for most of us, there are winning, shinning moments that make us proud of our job, and make it all worth it and once it is all over, we can sit back and say: yep, I helped to make that happen and yes, I am part of that team. Working on the Vloggies event along with everyone else at PodTech was one of those moments for me. Everything worked out so well because everyone: our team, the sponsors, the attendees, the presenters and the winners as well as the fabulous crew at the Cafe du Nord pitched in to make the night special. So many people have blogged and vlogged and podcasted the event that I don't know if I could add much more, but for me the highlights were: 1) Watching the diversity of the crowd: I enjoyed greeting everyone at the registration desk. From t-shirts and jeans to tux and evening gowns, we had the most diversely dressed up group at the vloggies. No matter how they were dressed though, everone came in with a good mood and ready to have fun. We also had little tykes and baby boomers and everyone in between. it is telling how just about everyone from all walks of life can get involved with the Internet and the video blogging movement. I have to say I like working at the reg. desk. I make it a point to try and work the registration desk at any event I organize. This is the first impression that the guests and attendees get from the event and if we can make sure that the process goes smoothly, everyone walks in to the event happy. I love to welcome the attendees and let them know how happy we are to have them. Special thanks to Irina's good friends' Nedra and Ladonna for helping out. 2) Watching Jerry Zucker's speech: This guy apparently has directed or produced some of my favorite movies of all time. The funniest movie I ever saw is Rat Race. I peed in my pants laughing so hard. The second funniest movie is Ruthless People. I was excited to see such an important Hollywood icon show up to our little event and address the audience. I wish I had had a chance to get his autograph or atleast shake hands with him. 3) Watching Ze Frank's acceptance speech: Speaking of shaking hands, I wish Ze Frank had been there so I could meet him in person. I love that guy. He is just so funny and the little duckie he sent to receive the award was just super cute. 4) Watching Irina and Daniel McVicar on stage: They did such a great job hosting the event and their collaboration on stage speaks so well of how the established entertainment industry can work well with the new kids on the block. 5) Watching all the winners and realizing there is so much outstanding work being done in the video blogging community. I've got lots to learn. 6) Watching Thomas Hawk and Scott Beale at work, flickering away at all the pretty faces. 7) Listening to Joe Klein's sound making it all official as the voice overs for the event. 8) And of course partying with all the cool cats at Cafe du Nord. Wow! What a night! TrackbacksWeblogs that reference this entry
