What we have here is a failure to communicate...

Last night after we left the party, we pulled in to a gas station to get gas. I told Robert I wanted some water and when he asked me where he should get it, I pointed to the snack shop sign of the gas station. After filling up the car, and walking over to the little shop, he got into the car, handed me a bottle of windhshield wiper and proceeded to drive away.Me: Where is the water?Robert: I just handed it to you. There.M iritated: Ummm, I am thirsty. I want water. Is this some kindda of a joke?R confused: Oh, I thought you wanted water for the windshield wiper. We were at a gas station and the sign has been bleeping for a while that the car needs windshield wiper liquid. M sighing: The car was bleeping for windshield liquid two weeks ago and I already took care of that. I wanted water for me.R pulling to a seven eleven store to get me water: Well, you should have been more clear. I will get you some now. M laughing: Ok next time I will tell you I need water. Oh wait I already told you that.Ahhhhh, I wish my husband would spend more time listening to what I say as Head Lemur has been doing at Raving Lunacy. He still doesn't get my point but I am flattered that he spends a lot of time and space trying to analyze what I say. From what I gather, critical thinking according to him means ad hominem, inviting people to a conference is elitist behavior but telling them to shut up because they have not written a book or have high ranking in Google is in spirit of healthy debate. All I had said and still maintain is that you might be able to be a better judge of a conference if you actually bothered attending it. It sounded pretty simple and straight forward to me but I guess that makes me a blithering idiot. Frankly, I didn't know where all the venom was coming from, until I read my husband's post this morning about hacking A-listers. I guess this is Mr. Lemur's way of getting Robert to link to him? Sorry to disappoint that you wasted your time, but Robert will only link to you if you pick on him not me.

I forgot to add: As the old farsi adage goes: He thinks he's fallen from a elephants trunk. ;D

    Oh Maryam,
I just saw little dick's angry, ugly picture. He's freaking joking if he and his 342 links from 115 blogs thinks he doesn't want Robert to link to him. What a joke. It kills me to think of the traffic you've fed him. Links indicate your overall popularity. That means Robert is pretty popular. He's a rock star! And people listen to what you and he have to say. That means that not many people are listening to little dick and Ms. Powers.

Anyway, you're right. Enough energy has been wasted on this and I don't want to have to read their blogs spewing venom and bullshit anymore. The only reason I read them in the first place was because you mentioned it. So don't mention them anymore and all two people who read their blogs (their mom and dad) will go back to reading their blogs and the rest of the world will continue to read you and Robert's blog.

So perhaps, we should just feel sorry for them. But alas, no longer feed the trolls.

Well I see my husband has already beat me to posting. Your story about the water, is just what would happen with us. I do not know if it has something to do with them being geeks, or just guys. LOL By the way I know you just got your mac, and Magnus has a website here in the UAE all about Apple (www.emiratesmac.com). He posted about Arabic Tiger and screen shots of it. This is big news here, as it should be over the Mac world.

Thanks Magnus. It's pretty funny how our minds think so differently :)

I think I'll defend Robert in this, as I see I could possibly have done the same thing. We guys need specific instructions, you see, and we're also particular sometimes about giving specific instructions to others. I know I drive my wife crazy sometimes in this regard, but she seems to have learned to live with it I guess ;-)

    McD,
Thanks! Robert is a pretty good sport and so are you. I am sorry I can't say the same about Ms. Powers and Mr. Lemur.  In their recent posts they both have engaged in name calling, and when it gets to that I wash my hands off the whole thing. Have a safe trip! See you in the blogosphere :)

    Maryam,

I can follow Robert's thinking... I think just like that. You here what's said and add in something you isn't being said and then... well... it doesn't mean your stupid or don't listen... It means you're over-thinking or thinking without confirming asumptions, yada, yada. It drives my wife absolutely bonkers and it happens again and again. It's really funny when you're not Robert.

He's such a good sport that he'll enjoy the laugh we are all now having at his expense.

Regarding, Alan... He's actually not all the psycho. He's just a great supporter of Shelley Powers and what she represents in world frame of reference. Take his rant apart line by line and it's based upon a view of the world that's similar to me and many others.

I don't know any easy way to create middle ground for such pre-loaded conflict. It's pointless to try at this point becuase I actually have some work to finish before some travel.

You don't deserve a lot of what Alan said... You walked into a viper's pit and said somethings that caused guns to be drawn. You've suggested that you didn't care for Shelley based upon her treatment of Robert and you may have used some words that created a flashpoint.

Let's just site a simple example: Putting the words "lazy thinking" and Shelley Powers in the same sentence can incite a roit in some frontier bars. Gotta run.

I'm following every post now!  Conflict does build readership. It just hurts when it gets ugly. Even Robert has wondered if maybe it's worth it.

Now... where did I put that Golden Rule. I left a post on Alan's blog trying to explore the bigger picture of this conversation that has wandered out of control.

Wow, that guy is psycho, Maryam. And he appears very threatened by you. Funny how he doesn't even realize that English is not your first language. Your english is better than 95% of the people who were born here. That post was definitely from a guy with a small penis and little man syndrome. Don't let it get you down. People like that give me a heahache. So petty, so small. Never fear, he was probably beat up on a lot as a child. :D
