Watching Cybill Shepherd in Curvy Widow

I love Cybill Shepherd. I fell in love with her when she was playing Maddie Hayes opposite Bruce Willis in Moonlighting. That was one of the first American shows I ever watched and I started watching it in Wales on the Summer of 1986 with my Mom and sister in law while I was waiting to get my student visa to come to the States. I used to think that Americans spoke so fast, because it was hard for me to follow the dialogue. I was just beginning to learn English then. I still got some of the jokes though and I just loved watching that show. Over the years I have watched her in some of the movies like Chances are and her own show on TV. Watching her performing on Stage as the curvy widow in San Francisco the other night though was such a treat. She is funny and beautiful and such a fantastic actress.
Curvy Widow is the story of a woman in her late fifties who goes online in search of a companion or as she so aptly puts it a playmate. What I liked about the play besides Ms. Shepherd's wonderful acting and the funny adventures and misadventures of the curvy widow was how she projected her computer display on the wall beside her so we could follow her online journey. I've been to many plays but this was the first time I was seeing virtual life displayed on the live stage. It was a surprising departure from what I had been used to and I quite enjoyed it. I also enjoyed Ms. Shepherd taking questions from the audience after the play. She showed that she can think on her feet and is quite witty and smart.
Someone asked her, what was the best sex she had ever had. Instead of shying away from the question or getting upset, she smply answered, with myself! Now that is a real woman in my book :)
If you get a chance and Curvy Widow is playing nearby, I definitely recommend seeing it. I really do love Cybill Shepherd.

Watching Rivera's Brainpeople in San Francisco

After having seen the movie, The Motorcycle Diaries about Che Guevara's life by Rivera, I was excited about watching his play,The Brainpeople: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/114682.html on stage. I went to see the play with two girlfriends, and I have to say I was nicely surprised and deeply moved. It's been a week since I've seen the play and I am still struggling with the concepts brought forth by the play. The actresses were at once beautiful, engaging and had an amazing range. The play mixed surrealistic aspects with universal concepts of love, life and death in such a smooth and humorous way and the actresses couldn't have been better.
If Rivera's Brainpeople is playing anywhere nearby I definitely recommend watching it.

Can't wait for LOST

Robert, Patrick and I are totally hooked on Lost. We watched the entire season three over the holidays and now wait to see the season premiere tonight. We loved season one; tolerated season two and liked season three. I wasn't entirely impressed with the flash forward scenes, but have to wait and see what happens tonight. My favorite character is Hurley. If you watch Lost, who is your favorite character and why? If you don't; you should watch it. It is the best thing on TV.

Jeresey Boys

Our gift to Robert's parents for Christmas was tickets to see Jersey Boys with us in San Francisco yesterday. This is one gift that we definitely got right. While I wasn't familiar with the rock group and their story, I had heard many of the songs over the years and the musical that documented the Four Seasons' rise to fame was simply amazing. Outstanding cast (cute guys;), great sense of humor, interesting plot and beautiful songs. I laughed out loud at many occasions through out the story, and I even had tears in my eyes with a couple of the songs. Robert and I were holding each other watching the show and afterwards his parents took us to dinner at the Beach Chalet restaurant by the Ocean. It was a romantic and fun day double dating with the in-laws. Thanks to my brother and his family for taking care of our boys, while we went out on the town. That was a great Christmas gift from them to us too :)
So if you are still thinking of what to get your loved ones, how about tickets to a show? Or if they have kids, babysit their children while they go out. That always works too;)

One of my friends realized that I was doing some late holiday shopping and sent me a helpful tip on how to get out of the whole holiday shopping frenzy. I thought I would share it with you all for a laugh:

My dear friends and family,
Somewhat embarrassing to admit, I'm not getting an annual bonus and Christmas is tight this year. I will be making bedroom slippers for you all as gifts. Please let me know your sizes. You'll most likely agree that it's a splendid idea, and should you wish to do the same, I've included the instructions below:

How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads:

You need four maxi pads to make a pair. Two of them get laid out flat, for the foot part. The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top.
Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part.
Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers (this is most aesthetically appealing), etc.

These slippers are:

* Soft and Hygienic
* Non-slip grip strips on the soles
* Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh
* No more bending over to mop up spills
* Disposable and biodegradable
* Environmentally safe
* Three convenient sizes: Regular, Light and Get out the Sand Bags.

I just saw this cool Flash animation where the animation starts fighting the animator by Alan Becker. Speaking of animation, Patrick and I watched the Ant Bully on DVD last night and found it quite enjoyable. Make sure you watch the short animations at the end as well. We kept rewinding the one titled, Please Help! We've been going around saying Meep to each other all day. Even Robert is getting into it. I love cartoons and animations.

Every year, English teachers from across the USA can submit their collections of actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays. These excerpts are published each year to the amusement of teachers across the country. Here are last year's winners:

Damn you Sheila! It's way too early in the morning here and you got me thinking of M&Ms! So I spent the last half hour thinking what kind of M&M I'd be.

I asked Robert what color would I be if I were an M&M and he said, green. The fact that it was 4:30 in the morning did not seem to phase him at all.

My friend Cathia forwarded two YouTube videos to me that apparently have made their way through out the world and have had over 12 million visits. One is a young boy playing the guitar and he makes heavenly music with his guitar. The other is a treadmill dance that looks so effortless, you know they have practiced it to perfection. Both are definitely worth a looksey.

Smacking Penguins and Guinea Pig TV

Robert is gone on yet another trip. This time to Oregon to visit Intel's Campus. Patrick and I have hardly seen him through the holidays. He's been gone on two trips already and when he is home he is either catching up with email or sleep. Either way it doesn't leave time for family. So do Patrick and I sit around the house, wait for him and mope? yeah, right.

We are laughing our asses off playing smacking Penguins and watching Guinea Pig TV. I love it when I have time to catch up with my RSS feeds. We have also treated ourselves to some nice Sushi and tonite we went to Red Ginger restaurant. What else? We are watching some fun movies together, like Over the Hedge, Day After Tomorrow, Nanny McPhee and Monster-in-Law, all very entertainning.

We miss Robert very much, but we are making the best of it without him.

Irina and Eddie from GETV just stopped by the office. They always know all the hot new things that are going on. I love the fact that they interviewed Dawn and Drew for example. Patrick loves their podcasts. Today though, Irina told me to check out the Laundry Girl short movie by Joey and David. It's about three minutes and is very funny.

I am totally star-struck! A few weeks ago, I was writing my impressions of the Vloggies 2006 and I said that I wish I had done two things: Meet Ze Frank and shake Jerry Zucker's hands. I didn't exactly get to meet Ze yet, but we did exchange some emails and I got to tell him on email how much I enjoy his show. His is my favorite Vlog. He is so funny.

And speaking of funny I got to be the 15th million and one person to tell Jerry Zucker today that Rat Race is the funniest movie of all time, right up there with Ruthless People. He was so nice and gracious about it too. He even told me I had hip glasses. And I was gonna get new glasses. I guess I am putting that one on hold.

One of the best things about working at PodTech is that I can sit here and watch Vlogs on hours end and call it "Research," because we are in the videocasting and podcasting business after all. You know all those jokes that friends forward you with the caption, "Caution: turn the volume down if you are at work?" Hey, it's my job to watch them and no we are not hiring anyone right now :)

We are celebrating the goodness of vlogs in just a few days at Vloggies and I for one am quite excited about walking on the red carpet. It's my first time ever! Lots of good submissions and now the votes are coming in.

At any rate, I was just reading Gia's blog and found this gem. I fell over my chair laughing so hard. These two little boys are out of this world funny. Napoleon Dynamite watch out!

Interviewing Zombies and Horses

Speaking of great people I work with, Irina and Eddie of GeekEntertainmentTv know how to marry funny and geeky and come up with hilarious interviews. They interviewed a horse in their off the grid camp in Montana and managed to interview some zombies in San Francisco without being eaten. Watch the videos if you have some time to spare. They are pretty entertainning and not too long :)

She is a Stanford Fellow, an expert in Martial arts and she just won the Miss India America Contest. I had asked her to help me with interviewing women in technology as she is a graduate intern in our office, but I think I need to interview her first. I am proud to be working with Melanie at PodTech.

Layer Cake: A Movie Review

If you liked “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” or “The Usual Suspects” then you will like this one, a lot. A great DVD to rent, if you don't mind a bit of violence and lots of bad language. Clever plot, intriguing twists, and lots of great quotes. My favorite: “Life was so f---ing good, I could taste it in my spit.” The main character says this right before everything starts to fall apart for him.

That’s exactly how I feel right now. I hope you are enjoying the holiday season too. And if we can get out of 2005 with our heads still attached, we’ve had a great year.
